Obama to sign bill authorizing warrant-less detention of citizens.

No trial, no due process. Obama to use Guantanamo Bay to indefinitely house political and religious dissidents without a trial.

Chalk up another victory for tyranny and another defeat for The Constitution of the United States of America. A bill declaring the USA a battleground passed by the Republican-led House of Representatives and by the Democrat-led Senate now rests on the President’s desk. Obama says he will sign it.

Democrats and Republicans on Same Page

Those who say little difference exists between Republicans and Democrats should take heart. Although each chamber is led by a different party, both chambers passed the same bill.

The new defense authorization bill empowers the military to arrest any American citizen suspected of being associated with a terrorist plot. These arrests require no warrants and no judicial oversights. Those labeled by government officials as suspects will promptly be ushered into the Guantanamo Bay prison camp Obama was supposed to have closed.

Apparently the torture camp that was too abhorrent to house foreign terrorists is good enough to house U.S. political prisoners and religious dissidents.

Obama Gets His Way

Obama briefly feigned anger over the measure that circumvents the Constitutional rights of Americans. Now, word has come out that Obama is the one who demanded the indefinite detention provision.

The slippery slope of the Patriot Act is now apparent to all, yet no one is willing to put an end to its abuses.

U.S. Citizens are not Combatants

By declaring that the USA is a battleground, American citizens have been officially designated as combatants. Presumed innocence has been replaced with presumed guilt. Americans no longer have a right to a fair trial; they have no right to anything except a spot in a prison camp.

 Even Al Jazeera Knows

Al Jazeera, the Islamic news service called out the indefinite detention bill, unlike American new media.

Don’t Trust the Government

Although precious little Lindsey Graham and Senator John McCain claim the law will be used only to detain people who have plotted against the U.S. Government (the U.S. Government has a right to exist and must be preserved. After all, it has all the moral and Constitutional authority it needs – not!)

The question isn’t whether bad guys should be detained. The question is, “Should the government be trusted to decide who gets to go to prison and who doesn’t?” This type of thing happens in China; it will soon be the law here.

Do you think that the government that lies to you thousands 0f times every day will police itself to make sure that only genuine threats are arrested? The new law is a tool that plays into the totalitarian hands of any U.S. head of state and should never have passed either house.
